As an organization, Unicorn Meat NYC has been committed to building a collaborative artistic experience for all parties involved in our events – artists, attendees, performers, and even our staff. We celebrate art as lived experience, and we do our best to create a space where participation is itself performance.
Last month's Illuminate 2013 was wonderfully accented with light-based art installations. Thank you! In order to keep up with the best of our traditions, for the upcoming event Surreal, we're again looking for collaborators. We are seeking interactive pieces which seem to bend the rules of reality without breaking them. We now invite you back to help us re-create and expand the vision. Please send us ideas for your take on Surreal.
Financial grants are available for innovative ideas. In most cases, compensation will be sent out (via PayPal) approximately a week after the event (once our ticketing funds clear). We are also interested in showing pre-existing work. Electrical drops will be provided to any areas needed. However, you must bring your own power cords to connect to the drop. Please budget accordingly. Please understand we receive hundreds of proposals, but we are only able to select a fraction, based on available space and funding. That being said, if you have a feasible idea, don't be shy to reach out. We will make every effort to respond to each and every email.
Please help us speed up the process of choosing installations by sending us the following information to the best of your ability:
-approximate size of project
-pictures or diagrams
-type of project (sculptural, projection, performance, etc.)
-is it interactive? If so, how?
-budget (broken down into specific material costs)
-how much setup time does your project need?
-will you need access to a scissor lift and if so, how much time?
-have you ever made installations for similar events?
